Apparently Entel has teamed up with Starlink to offer this service, which at present seems to be limited to “free” SMS text messages. No doubt when sat voice and internet services become available, Entel’s tariffs will reflect that.

This could be a life-saver in emergency situations, providing a service similar to the popular Garmin InReach.
An update to the previous. Its finally been announced that as of this december, Entel subscribers will be able to send and receive direct-to-Starlink text messages.

El servicio -anunciado en diciembre de 2023 y disponible desde esta semana- podrá ser usado, inicialmente, por aquellas personas con planes sobre los $12.900 y el plan Persona Mayor. Para conectarse, solo se necesita estar en una zona sin señal terrestre, un equipo compatible, tener las actualizaciones al día y contar con vista al cielo.
