Traumatic experience

Encountering a corpse (or bits of one) in the street may have a traumatic effect.

Para el académico de la Escuela de Psicología de la Universidad de los Andes, Cristian Rodríguez, “encontrar un cuerpo en general, asumo, claro, es una experiencia potencialmente traumática”.

Well, yes. That’s pretty obvious, I would have thought.
It rarely happened in the past, but now its becoming common enough to merit this BioBio article.

Just yesterday, we were in the Líder parking lot and I saw a backpack behind a bush. My first thought was maybe there’s a head in it!

There you go:

Obviously the dog was to blame.

I came across this up in the Atacama many years ago, just a short distance from the Panamericana, as if it had been dumped from a passing vehicle – but that was just speculation. I was traveling just a few hours south of Arica with a chileno friend who was neither horrified nor particularly surprised by the finding. I mean, this is Latin America after all.

Alas poor Yorick, you traumatized me.
