Over 150 UF? Gran Hermano wants to know

In yet another measure to keep small investors and prospective property owners out of Chile, the government here now requires that any bank account having “movements” within a month of more than 150 UF (about 57,000,000 CLP) gets reported to Big Brother. In this case, the SII.

New item in the tax code, under Ley N°21.453 if you must know.

Good thing that I resolved after Red October of 2019 to put an end to further investment here.

Basically, if you prepare a payment for purchase of real estate or anything else involving a payment of more than 57 palos, you are now automatically placed in the SII crosshairs, and you may be contacted to explain.

And they have ways of making you sing.

Well i gotta say…im surprised it is not 57 lucas in a month that is the threshold. I could have sworn ive seen far smaller thresholds than 57 palos in a month published to trigger them to make us sing.

Honestly it is hard to keep up with whither tos and what fors of the oppression. Dont breath, eat, buy, or sell and you will be just fine

For those inclined to wonder about the details and possible sources, I found this summary. In the vernacular.
