Competent quality washing machines

Okay, we all know the abysmal lack of superior products or competent customer service in our beloved adopted country but as a hopeless optimist, I must ask. Has anyone found a washing machine that actually washes clothes?

My old Maytag (30+ years old and still running) in Canada could get all the dirt out, nada problema. ( Years ago Maytag changed ownership and joined the league of manufactured incompetency and planned obsolescence. Mine was manufactured in the age of quality, competence , good service and lifetime guarantees)

But here in Chile, the washing machine’s wash cycle is so anemic, it does little more than give the clothes a gentle swim. Women tell me they have to scrub the collars and cuffs of shirts before putting them into these useless washing machines.
Please… has anyone found a powerful washing machine where you don’t have to wash the clothes by hand first?

We use General Electric top loaders. I’ve heard that Miele machines are very reliable, but don’t know about their wash quality.
