It would be hard not to have see this one coming. Senora Gordita for the head UN position. As full of fail as she is…she might actually be an improvement over the current fat, barely concious, sad sack of shit warming the seat currently, Guterres. But know that aint saying much.
The only consolation is the role is effectively meaningless and neutered so whatever clown is holding the position its irrelevant besides having to hear them blither on from time to time about their oh so precious opinion on current events

But Kast resisted lefty pressure to confirm her candidacy, putting a stop to the expensive promotional efforts involved.
Brazil and Mexico remain as her co-sponsors, but she doesn’t stand much of a chance; the US in particular doesn’t like her crypto-commie politics; anyway the UN’s world influence is waning.
She’s also 74 years old. Why can’t she gracefully retire and live off her generous Pension and Foundation money?
I suspect that a prestigious international job would have helped shield her from parliamentary inquiries relating to her disastrous second presidency, whose effects are still with us.
My husband and I were saying the same thing. Why would she want that stress at that age? I guess she thinks it’s prestigious, although the UN’s relevance does seem to be waning. It’s pretty clear that the US plans to veto her, so it’s likely a lost cause anyways.
