Permanent Residency Extension Abroad

Hey all hope everyone is well in here

I am in the U.S. and have been tied with a job where I am unable to get back to Chile for the moment. I will have been here 2 years come March 2026. I cannot come back to Chile to “renew” it.

I see that I am able to extend my Permanent Residency for another 2 years so I do NOT need to come back. However, I am unable to find a proper link to do so online. I see “go to consulate” but of course their links redirect etc…

Could anyone please assist or know how to do this? I would REALLY appreciate the help.

Thanks!

What state are you in?

Update: I talked to a friend of mine here in Chile who had to get an extension twice. You have to go to a consulate and not every state in the US has a consulate for Chile. They had to go to the consulate in San Francisco California and ask for an extension to their permanencia definitiva. There is a name for it, it is called a prórroga… literally means extension. There wasn’t a consulate in Oregon, the state they were living in, nor was there one in Washington state. At the time they had to go in person with the forms. The extensions were for 2 years. You need to explain why you need the extension. They had some circumstances where they couldn’t go back when they were supposed to.

Here is an another link about it.
